Are you being physically, sexually or emotionally abused?
Do you…
Constantly feel put down or harassed, find it hard to leave the house, find it difficult to have your own friends or feel negitive about yourself?
Are you…
Beaten, pushed, slapped, hit sometimes or threatened with beatings, afraid for yourself or your children, not physically assaulted but feel emotionally torn apart or feeling sexually degraded and/or having unwanted sex?
We can help…
You are not alone. You are a worthwhile and important person. You deserve to be treated with respect. You can have power over your own life. You are not to blame for being assaulted and/or abused. You are not the cause of another’s violent behaviour, and you can have a safe and happy life for you and your family!
Power and Control Wheel
Intimate partner violence is not about having too much to drink, or one partner making the other so angry that s/he can’t control him/herself.
Abuse is about power and control; one person trying to make another do what s/he want them to do through manipulation, coercion, and even physical violence.
No one can cause another person to act. Everyone chooses how they are going to respond to a situation; either violently or non-violently.
Is your relationship based on power and control or is it based on equality? Check out the wheels below to find where you fit.
