Our board is made up of 12 men and women who volunteer their time and talents to govern the organization.  They are champions who want to see a healthy organization as well as an end to violence against women.  They come from all over Huron County and represent a diversity of experiences and ideas.  The board meets about 10 times per year.

If you have an interest in ensuring the safety and equality of women and children in Huron County, a passion for women’s issues and the time to devote to this cause, consider becoming a volunteer member of the Board of Directors!

Our mission is to advocate for women’s equality, work to prevent violence, and provide services for women and their children who have experienced abuse and/or violence.  We are looking for men and women who live in Huron County and have skills in the areas of: Human Resources, Not for Profit Management, Finance, Community Engagement, Fundraising, and Risk Management.

Huron Women’s Shelter, Second Stage Housing and Counselling Services provides a wide array of services to women and children of Huron County based on the following values: a respectful, compassionate, culture of listening; diversity and inclusiveness; interconnectedness; integrity and accountability; excellence and leadership.

Our services include: emergency shelter, 24/7 information and support line, Second Stage Housing, individual and group counselling, and family court support to women and children who have experienced violence and sexual assault.

Our primary funding sources are the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services, Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, Huron County Property and Social Services, Southwest LHIN and United Way Perth-Huron.

As a volunteer board member, you will make a significant contribution to your community and be part of a progressive leadership team.

We are currently receiving applications for new Board members from residents of Huron County who have an interest in making our community a safer place for women and their children.  If you are interested in being a board member, please complete this expression of interest form.  Upon receipt of this form we will be in touch to confirm your interest and start the process for becoming a board member.

Festival of Arts & Crafts

See you in 2015   

The Festival of Arts and Craft is held on the square in beautiful historic Goderich. The event hosts as many as 150 craft persons who display their wares. The festival draws thousand of tourists to our lake-side town every year. You do not want to miss the opportunity to see and purchase unique, hand-crafted items. The festival is also the largest fund raiser for Huron Women’s Shelter.

Safe Harbour Run – Bayfield, Ontario

This 2K, 5K, 10K, run/walk is back in Bayfield on August 20, 2017.   A great run in a beautiful place!

This run is being organized by Blue Bayfield, a group of citizens who are protecting our water sources.  Proceeds from the run will support Blue Bayfield and the Huron Women’s Shelter.
